KARACHI: Sindh government officials have finished making plans for a new welfare scheme, with the chairman of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, scheduled to unveil the new Sindh Youth Card later this month. According to the government officials, it is a momentous occasion for the youth of Sindh, as they will get more access to education and job opportunities.

Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar stated that in accordance with the specific directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh government has prepared its plan for issuing the Sindh Youth Card. This is one of the efforts being made by the provincial government in order to institutionalize youth welfare programs through an organized system.

According to Mahar, in the first step, one lakh youth between the ages of 15 to 29 years old in 30 districts of the province will get various facilities and opportunities under the Sindh Youth Card. This program is going to be useful for them to have good chances in their education, employment, training, and being self-dependent. The card will be multipurpose instead of providing just a single benefit.

Benefits under the Sindh Youth Card have been explained by Mahar in great detail. The students will get scholarship for further studies in universities and also chances to study abroad or even inside Pakistan. The card will offer interest-free loans, help with finance and best skills training in the world. Other benefits under the card include discounts in local transportation, trains and also various other services that the citizens require.

The minister stressed that the registration for the Sindh Youth Card would be entirely online and very simple so that youth from all districts of the province could get this service easily without any difficulty of bureaucracy. This online approach is also evident in many other government welfare schemes launched recently.

However, according to Mahar, the objective of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in connection with this card is to connect young individuals who never had any opportunity to get themselves into the government offices and to give them equal opportunities for growth irrespective of where they belong from. He made it clear that the Sindh Youth Card would only be issued to those individuals having Sindh domicile.
