iPhone Ultra Leaker Sonny Dickson shows the most comprehensive iPhone Ultra concepts ever with a screen, showing off Apple’s small book-fold design for the first time, with a centre-cut round camera, a horizontal double-camera strip, and a minimal crease.
The most highly awaited product from Apple over the past few years has finally become tangible in the form of prototypes. Images leaked out by well-known tech enthusiast Sonny Dickson show the closest glimpse to the iPhone Ultra foldable design, which includes the addition of a display for the very first time.
The iPhone Ultra foldable design revealed by Dickson reveals many important things about Apple
The iPhone Ultra foldable design exposed in Dickson’s mockups introduces some interesting new aspects to the iPhone brand. First off, the design comes with an edge-to-edge outer cover with a centered circular hole for the front camera – the first time Apple designs an iPhone with such a configuration. Next, the camera placed at the left part of the display allows the user to maximize the screen space available when unfolding the device. Finally, the design includes a horizontally oriented camera bar with a dual-lens camera.
The crease present but reduced
No foldable phone can be totally free from any kind of crease that appears in its display screen; even the iPhone Ultra foldable cannot be an exception. The crease appears in a very minute form in the middle of the screen of the display. The reports indicate that the thickness of this crease would be only 0.15 mm and the folding angle would not exceed 2.5 degrees, which is one of the toughest standards set by any company in the foldable market. Apple has used a combination of structure glass mid-frame and advanced optical clear adhesive technique to produce this effect.
Design Language Book Fold, not Flip Phone
The iPhone Ultra is designed with the book-fold concept rather than having a flip-phone design. As its name implies, when folded, it rests comfortably as a slim, yet comparatively wider phone. In contrast, when unfolded, it becomes a 7.8 inch inner screen whose description matches that of an iPad Mini in the user’s hands. This design language sets this model apart from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup and emphasizes its utility-focused design direction.

Touch ID makes a comeback Face ID gives way to design considerations
The latest reports reveal that the design of the iPhone Ultra would feature the comeback of Touch ID – which marks a stark contrast with Apple’s continued use of Face ID in its flagship iPhone line-up since 2017. Considering the foldable nature of the device, the implementation of Face ID would become quite challenging for engineers to achieve, leading to Touch ID as an alternative choice.
Trade-offs, not the maximum specifications, but the maximum stake at risk
The need to engineer folding a screen means making trade-offs. This is because the first time an iPhone foldable is available to consumers, the demand will exceed supply regardless of what benchmark test results show.
