ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) approved bonuses payable to its staff worth one month’s basic salary as a form of appreciation for their efforts. This came after a meeting between the airline’s board members who expressed that such a move would be taken to recognize the roles played by employees in maintaining the daily running of the airline’s business.
PIA Approves Bonus for Employees as Recognition of Staff Contributions
PIA management commented on the announcement saying that the initiative would help appreciate their efforts as well as boost team performance before achieving certain operational targets including reviving routes and improving services. This implies that PIA considers this bonus as part of their strategy, which shows that their approach focuses on linking staff motivation with organizational objectives, instead of looking at it separately as monetary compensation.

PIA revival would not be possible without the efforts made by its employees, according to Chairman of the Board. The Chairman highlighted how important employees are to the process, stating: "Our employees form the crux of PIA revival," noting how crucial the role played by employees will be for ensuring success of such a strategy.
"We are setting up the building blocks for success with excellence, responsibility, and sustainability from Day 1," the Chairman explained.
As reported on Wednesday, the news of PIA approves bonus for employees with the efforts made by PIA's new management team to enhance operations reliability, improve customer service quality, and secure the airline's financial sustainability. The bonus scheme appears part of a broader plan to rebuild morale among staff members as well as restore the trust of passengers in the national flag carrier.
PIA’s leadership seems to be making efforts to recognize the contribution of their employees along with the implementation of process improvements in order to ensure the success of the airline's turnaround strategy, considering the motivation of staff as one of the essential elements of the process rather than a secondary one. PIA's decision to approve bonus payments to employees at this stage can be seen as an early sign of the approach they will take to balance financial prudence with employee investments.
