Punjab Deploys Drone Technology for First Time in Eid-ul-Adha Cleanliness Operation

LAHORE: In a landmark move towards modernization in urban management, the Punjab Government has introduced latest drone technology in supervising waste management systems throughout Eid ul Adha. The initiative marked the first use of drone-based surveillance technology in Punjab’s sanitation operations, highlighting the province’s shift toward smarter and more efficient waste management practices.
According to the spokesman of the "Suthra Punjab" project, the mission proved to be immensely successful right from the very beginning of the celebrations since the teams were able to get rid of more than 110,000 tons of animal waste. Lahore was the center point of this drive as the municipal corporation of the area cleared almost 17,000 tons of animal waste.
Real-Time Monitoring and Leadership
As per information by Azma Bukhari, Minister of Information of Punjab, it was all managed by Maryam Nawaz herself who is the Chief Minister. The involvement of her in the entire situation helped ensure that there was a response at ground level.
She said, "The process of sanitation is going well on every front in our province." "Our 'Suthra Punjab' teams that consist of 184,000 hardworking staff members continued their efforts out there in order to maintain hygiene for all citizens."
Modern Tactics for a Cleaner Punjab
The use of drone technology made it possible for the authorities to detect zones where waste collection could take place on time and thus facilitate prompt deployment of workers into such areas. This development has marked a transition from conventional methods of waste management, which relied on a response approach to more scientific means of addressing the problem.
The cleaning campaign went beyond waste collection. Sanitation staff washed the streets, roads, and neighborhoods soon after removing the sacrifices waste to remove the foul smell and maintain hygiene. Sanitizers, along with spraying of rose water by workers was another strategy that helped residents appreciate their clean and hygienic surroundings during the days of the Eid holiday period.
Setting a Sustainable Future
The implementation of Suthra Punjab campaign created an example that was never seen before and proved what kind of difference technology, proper planning, and effective execution could make when providing services.
With the project now ending, the provincial government looks forward to using it as a template for other sanitation drives in the future. This makes Punjab among the provinces that have taken rapid strides towards modern urbanization through AI-powered surveillance.
