UAE and Kuwait Flight Disruptions Hit Emirates, Etihad and Air Arabia

Clashes between the USA and Iran have resulted in the creation of disruptions among hundreds of thousands of travelers in the Gulf as major airlines are canceling or rescheduling their flights to Kuwait and some regions of Saudi Arabia. The effect of the USA and war on the Gulf region has been felt by the airlines operating there as the same airlines, i.e., Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia, Flydubai, Kuwait Airways, and Jazeera Airways, have all announced their disrupted schedules due to the threat of missiles and drones.

Aviation industry was gradually recovering from the closure of airspace after the beginning of the war between the two countries on 28th February. But July 7 attack launched by the US against Iran has reversed this trend and brought pressure on the air transport system of the Gulf region again.

Flight-by-Flight: What Was Canceled

As per the reports by Emirates, the UAE Kuwait flight disruptions on the route in relation to the war between Iran and the United States was due to operational issues, and those affected were requested to communicate directly with the airline.

Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways guaranteed its customers that the flights going to and from Kuwait have been impacted owing to the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran. The airlines urged its customers to keep their details updated so as to make it possible to contact them through SMS and email.

Air Arabia

Mixed results for the UAE-Kuwait services by Air Arabia have been recorded on Sunday. Some of the services that were marked as canceled were subsequently restored:

• 3L021 Kuwait to Abu Dhabi: Canceled
• 3L022 Abu Dhabi to Kuwait: Flown on Sunday evening
• 3L023 Kuwait to Abu Dhabi: Flown on Sunday evening
• G9121 Sharjah route: Flown Sunday afternoon despite being initially listed as canceled; other services on the route were delayed

Disruptions on Flydubai to Saudi Arabia

This disruption by Flydubai extended into Saudi Arabia with Abha, which is located in the southern part of Asir region. Abha city is vulnerable to any form of security threat because it has been targeted in the past due to border attacks during times of Gulf conflicts.

Disruption within the Larger Context

The UAE Kuwait flight disruptions involving disruptions to flights between the UAE, Kuwait and Iran due to the war between the United States and Iran is one that has been consistent with the nature of Gulf air transport ever since hostilities commenced on July 7.
