BYD Bringing 569HP Hybrid Beast to Pakistan Alongside Two New SUVs

KARACHI: BYD is set to launch three robust PHEV models in Pakistan to broaden its product portfolio in the region. The manufacturer has reportedly brought in demonstrative samples of the BYD Sealion 6, Denza B5, and Denza B8 in the country for testing purposes. If BYD proceeds with locally assembled versions, Pakistani buyers could soon access some of the most powerful PHEVs ever offered in the local market.

BYD has been aggressively building its Pakistan presence. The company plans to roll out its first locally assembled electric vehicle from its Karachi factory by July or August 2026, in collaboration with Mega Motor Company, a subsidiary of Pakistan’s utility firm Hub Power. The three new PHEV models fit squarely into that expansion strategy. BYD

Pakistan’s vice president of sales and strategy has stated that the company aims to capture a 30 to 35 percent share of the electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle segment and adding three distinct PHEV models across different price points will sharpen that competitive edge considerably.

BYD Sealion 6

The BYD Sealion 6 is designed to capture the mass market crossover sector, rivaling models like the Haval H6 and Kia Sportage. This car features a 1.5 litre, turbocharged PHEV with all-wheel drive and battery capacity of 18.3kWh. The power output for this model is rated at 319 hp and torque at 550 Nm, while BYD boasts an NEDC range of 70km on electricity alone – that means a whole day of driving through traffic without using any gasoline.

Denza B5

The Denza B5 steps into the premium SUV segment with serious performance credentials. The engine is a PHEV AWD system with 1.5 litres of capacity, turbocharged, which is coupled with a bigger 31.8 kWh battery pack, delivering 536 hp of power and 760 Nm of torque. The company states that its range in purely electric mode reaches 100 kilometres based on NEDC tests, hence it can be considered an actual daily electric vehicle yet retains hybrid features for intercity drives.

Denza B8

The Denza B8 sits at the top of this incoming trio. It features a 2.0L turbocharged PHEV AWD engine coupled with a 36.8kWh battery pack which is the highest among all three models. The vehicle’s performance figures include 569 hp and 760Nm torque with a quoted NEDC range of 115km when operating in electric mode only. This is for customers seeking ultimate performance without any driving concerns.
