Karachi Bakra Heist: Rs1.9 Million Goats Vanish Before Eid

KARACHI: This can be seen through the recent event where 25 goats belonging to a businessman in Karachi were stolen during the Eid ul Adha trading season. In this event, the businessman had all of his 25 goats stolen, the value of which is roughly estimated at Rs 1.9 million.

This was done at Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 8, which is known to be one of the busiest places as far as commercial and residential activities in Karachi are concerned. This was due to the fact that the businessman had goats to sell since this time was close to Eid-ul-Adha where the demand for goats increases.

How the Bandits Managed to Do That

goat robbery in Karachi, it is evident that what was involved was an organized criminal process, not a spontaneous one. The trader was holding the goats on an open space at Gulistan-e-Jauhar in anticipation of some market dealings. The robbers had knowledge of the place where the goats were and moved with an aim.

The gang left the scene before an alarm could be raised or any action taken. The whole process was carried out with such speed and coordination that it is clear they had done their homework beforehand regarding the trader’s movements and storage facilities.

The CCTV recordings of the theft committed on the goat in Karachi have now been made public and remain in the hands of law enforcement authorities responsible for investigating the case. The authorities find the footage highly useful in pinpointing each and every person involved.

FIR Lodged; Police Teams Act Quickly

The victim trader quickly took action within the formal framework after the theft of his goats in Karachi. The trader lodged an FIR in Malir Cantt Police Station to commence the criminal process against the perpetrator(s).

It has been confirmed by the police that there are several teams investigating this case at once. CCTV footage is being analyzed along with local intelligence, so as to be able to identify the criminals and learn about their escape path from Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Why Eid Season Leaves the Animal Traders Vulnerable?

The robbery of goats in Karachi takes place during the time when the livestock dealers in the city could be vulnerable to such attacks. Eid-ul-Adha is the only time of the year when the dealers get substantial business.

The traders have traveled from all parts of Sindh, carrying with them livestock that is bought several weeks ahead and stored in rented places such as plots and open spaces, which lack any form of security. Such a mode of storage makes them highly vulnerable to criminals who have knowledge about the annual pattern of the livestock trade.

The amount of Rs.1.9 million linked to only 25 goats highlights the extent of increase in prices of livestock before the Eid-ul-Adha celebration period. Losing a whole stock of livestock by theft means more than just losing money; it means losing one’s business entirely.

Security Needs Shouted Louder Around Karachi

Each theft of goats during the Eid festival period raises the voices of traders’ organizations demanding increased security around animal storage facilities and markets throughout Karachi.

Eid-ul-Adha is drawing near, and it has become necessary for the concerned authorities to provide security in the form of visible presence in order to ensure that no further loss occurs through the entry of thousands of rupees worth of livestock into the markets of Karachi.
