KP Infrastructure: CM Leads the Modernization Push
Under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s CM Muhammad Sohail Afridi, a major transit corridor modernisation project is currently being implemented in the picturesque Galiyat area. The KP government has initiated a project which addresses road quality deficiencies affecting tourism in this area.
The Rs 5.602 billion project entails the complete reconstruction and rehabilitation of 63.65 kilometers of strategic mountain roads in KPK. Such a massive financial outlay suggests the intent to overhaul a vital transportation system that has acted as the gateway to millions of local and foreign tourists visiting the area over the decades.

The work breakdown structure will be divided into two major routes which will play an essential role in facilitating movement within the region. Most of the budget allocation will be directed towards the major 57.5 km stretch running between Abbottabad and Nathiagali & Barian, along with a secondary route spanning 6.15km across Kozagali, Ayubiya, and Khanspur.
Through enhancing accessibility to tourists and repairing damaged roads, provincial administrators seek to facilitate safer journeys for travelers arriving from both domestic and international locations. The KP Infrastructure Development Project is set to address travel difficulties experienced due to poor road quality along these routes that pass through rugged terrain.
According to provincial officials, completion of this initiative will help cut down travel duration on some difficult-to-access routes, thus minimizing travel hazards faced by motorists.
It is believed that beyond facilitating smoother travels, the improved infrastructure will help stimulate business activity, create job opportunities, and give a continuous economic push to various communities within the Galiyat Valley region. From an economic perspective, this indicates that policymakers do not consider this project merely to be about repairing a road but have rather framed it as one for overall regional economic development through tourism-related business activities.
