ISLAMABAD: country has made the FIFA World Cup 2026 a global marketing arena for its football manufacturing sector, initiating an export campaign in Uzbekistan that involves sports diplomacy and trade strategy as the government searches for new customers for one of its most profitable export sectors.
Instead of merely participating in the event by providing the official ball, the government has begun to use the international exposure gained from the event to boost the image of its industry and build business relations in Central Asia. This strategy can help the government find new markets for the exports of its manufacturers and further establish Sialkot as one of the leading football production centers in the world.
The campaign was launched in Tashkent amid the live broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Uzbekistan and Portugal when Pakistan’s Trade Mission promoted the country’s globally recognized football manufacturing skills among thousands of football lovers.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan lauded the move as an innovation in economic diplomacy as it helps promote Pakistan’s manufacturing abilities through one of the most popular sports in the world.
He stated that Pakistan is continuing to establish itself as a reliable maker of high-quality footballs and Sialkot will continue to be at the forefront of that achievement.
Sialkot Strengthens Global Football Leadership
Pakistan’s football industry had been catering to international sporting events for many years now; however, the manufacturers are moving towards building up their global brand name rather than producing on contracts.

The key highlight of the marketing campaign was the Trionda, which is the official ball of the FIFA World Cup 2026, made in Sialkot by Forward Sports Company. It has become one of the most successful exports of Pakistan, reflecting its excellent skills in precision manufacturing and quality labor force.
In order to create more awareness about Sialkot among local audience members, the Trade Mission of Pakistan produced the documentary of Forward Sports in Uzbek and showed it to them before the match held at Bunyodkor Stadium and Humo Arena.
Sports Diplomacy Coupled With Export Promotion
Besides that, Pakistan took this opportunity to enhance diplomatic and business ties with Uzbekistan.
Officials of the Pakistani embassy delivered the football of the brand “Trionda” to the governor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, and stated that this event is a demonstration of growing connections and cooperation in the economy of these two countries. Sports diplomacy leads to building effective business connections because of attracting many spectators during the international competition.
The officials of the Ministry of Commerce believe that such an approach will help to increase business confidence in relations between Pakistan and Central Asia.
New Markets Become Export Priority
Historically, Pakistani football exports have been limited to European and North American consumers, and government representatives have called upon Pakistani manufacturers to expand their export market to new regions where there is increasing demand for high-quality sports products.
Uzbekistan is just one of many regional markets that Pakistan has identified for expanding its exports beyond established regions.
Pakistan’s Trade Mission will organise more promotional events across Uzbekistan in the coming weeks to showcase the country’s manufacturing capabilities to local importers, distributors and business leaders.
Furthermore, this strategy fits in line with other plans by Pakistan in order to expand exports through commercial diplomacy rather than traditional trade shows.
With the increase in competition in the manufacturing industry around the world, the fact that Pakistan has now chosen to make use of the FIFA World Cup as an export platform indicates a more general shift in its export policies. The country aims at making its presence known through such sports events and securing long-term deals for its exports while emphasizing the quality of Sialkot footballs around the world.
