An intelligence operation jointly conducted in the Chehla Bandi area of Muzaffarabad district results in the arrest of five individuals suspected of being associated with India’s Research and Analysis Wing, through whose interrogation the hidden arms depot of automatic weapons was discovered.
MUZAFFARABAD: The security forces of Pakistan have taken quick action against the Indian espionage cell active in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The law enforcement agencies, including ISI, have detained five suspects believed to be associated with India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) through a well-planned intelligence operation in the area of Chehla Bandi in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday – the latest among numerous arrests made of RAW operatives in AJK cases.
Operation of RAW agents in AJK
The security agencies carried out the operation based on actionable intelligence reports and proceeded to act against a particular spot in the Chehla Bandi locality in Muzaffarabad district. This task was jointly carried out by ISI along with other law enforcement agencies, and the result was that the five RAW agents arrested in one sweep. During their interrogation, various gadgets including laptops and mobile phones were recovered from them which contained suspicious contacts and intelligence information.
The RAW agents arrested case became even more complicated later on during the interrogations by RAW agents. As per one of the five suspects, they were pointed to another place where they found a cache of weapons this development turned out to be much more than just an intelligence issue.
The found ammunition comprised of seven automatic guns, several grenades, and other military supplies, indicating that there was a much wider mission involved in collecting intelligence rather than merely surveillance activity within AJK. According to security experts, the recovery of such ammunition is important because it shows the true intentions of the network.
An Intelligence Dimension is Added to Digital Evidence
The cell phones and laptops obtained from the five individuals also come with their fair share of investigatory weight. The preliminary investigation of the computers and cell phones allegedly produced information which suggests that there had been collaboration with people operating outside Pakistan. These pieces of digital evidence now represent a significant part of the RAW agents AJK case.

Why AJK continues to be an important site for cross-border intelligence operations
The arrest of RAW agents in the AJK operation is just another incident in a long series that the security forces of Pakistan have been observing for some time now in the region of the Line of Control. The geographical location of AJK – which borders the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir – ensures that AJK is a crucial center of intelligence operations. The security forces of Pakistan accuse India’s RAW of operating networks in AJK for the purpose of military espionage, causing trouble, and communicating with hostiles.
India has always denied any activity involving such hostile intelligence organizations in areas under Pakistan’s administration. RAW officials’ claims against AJK are in line with Islamabad’s stand regarding activities related to cross-border intelligence organizations, which have gained new significance in light of developments in India-Pakistan relations in early 2026.
The three other suspects, along with the initial two, continue to be held in custody pending further investigations that will look into their confiscated digital devices. At this point, the extent of the AJK RAW agent network – including other potential members and planned activities – is still being investigated by ISI and related organizations. More information is set to emerge as the case progresses.
