Sindh Enforces Permanent Lifetime Ban to Combat Board Exam Cheating

KARACHI: The govt of Sindh has made an unprecedented step in ensuring academic honesty by instituting a “Zero Tolerance” approach towards cheating in Matriculation and Intermediate tests. Under the new guidelines, authorities will permanently blacklist any candidate who engages in cheating from all future board examinations.

Unified Approach towards Academic Integrity

The ministers of universities, Ismail Rahu, and education, Sardar Shah, issued a collective statement today that highlights the provincial government’s tough stance against the “cheating culture.” The ministers clarified that the provincial government cannot tolerate the undermining of merit anymore. The announcement is in response to longstanding apprehensions regarding the involvement of mobile phones and outside help during board examinations.

Strict Penalties Introduced for Sindh Board Exam Cheating

This newly adopted regulation comes with unusually harsh punishments. If an examiner catches a student cheating, authorities will cancel all their exam papers for that year. More importantly, the government now wishes to deny any further participation in board examinations to such cheating students.

“We have had enough of giving out gentle warnings,” said the ministers. “If a student cheats now, he is denying himself a bright future that another honest student might have. As such, we will deny him forever the chance to appear before our examiners.”

In addition, anyone found with a mobile phone or other materials used in cheating inside the examination hall will be thrown out of the hall forthwith and will be sued.”

Crackdown on Corrupt Staff and Administration

Not only are the authorities targeting the students; they are also making sure that there is order within the ranks. The province’s ministers have made it clear that any staff members, whether invigilators, internal supervisors, or external officers, found to be assisting in cheating shall lose their employment.

The Department of Education is set to launch a series of departmental inquiries and terminate the employment of those who assist students in committing unfair means during examinations.

Enhanced Surveillance and Monitoring

For this purpose, the monitoring activities will be made stricter by the provincial government through the following measures:

  • Surveillance: Mobile surveillance teams will carry out random inspections of examination centers.
  • Security: Prevent interference from outside forces such as “booth capturing” by outsiders.
  • Monitoring: Increased surveillance of the use of technology, including the Internet.
The Path Toward Quality Education

According to the officials, such stringent actions become essential because they are imperative for protecting the value of the degrees provided by the boards in Sindh. The hope is that without shortcuts, students will concentrate on studying and working hard.

“We need our students to be competitive in the international arena,” stated Sardar Shah. “That is impossible if the entire examination system does not have any credibility whatsoever. Such reform will guarantee that only worthy individuals progress in their career paths.”

With this latest development, there comes a turning point in the 2026 academic calendar.
