Hafiz Naeem Launches Pakistan’s First Education Card in Karachi

KARACHI: Pakistan’s first ever “Education Card” scheme has been introduced in Karachi by Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman with the objective to help thousands of students coming from poor and lower-middle class families through educational grants.

Gulberg Town holds the distinction of becoming Karachi’s first and only town to take concrete, ground-level action toward expanding access to education and resolving the financial barriers that poor and middle-class families face in schooling their children.

What Is the Education Card and How Does It Work?

“Hafiz Naeem supervised the launching ceremony at the Gulberg Gymkhana grounds in Karachi. In the process, almost 5,000 students who were studying in the local town schools were provided education cards. Through the scheme, these students will be able to acquire educational needs worth Rs10,000.

As per the members of Jamaat-e-Islami, Gulberg Town is the only one town in Karachi that has adopted a new scheme aimed at providing support to the families which are facing educational problems due to their economic state.

While speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Naeem appreciated the efforts of Town Chairman Nusratullah and his team for successfully executing the project. Apart from that, Hafiz Naeem also thanked the benefactors and welfare organizations for their financial and administrative support in the education cards project.

1.4 Million Children Already Registered

According to Hafiz Naeem, Jamaat-e-Islami had registered about 1.4 million children under its general education project. Moreover, he mentioned that the party had renovated around 50 schools in its nine towns of Karachi and made them model schools with good facilities for students.

He emphasized that education is the foremost task of the government and the state. However, he was of the opinion that the government has miserably failed in performing its duty towards education. In Pakistan, there are over 26.2 million school-going children who do not go to schools, whereas Sindh alone consists of 7.8 million such children.

“These children represent the future of Pakistan. They should not be put in the hands of the incapable, corrupt, and callous rulers,” commented Hafiz Naeem while addressing the audience”.

The head of the Jamaat-e-Islami political party also emphasized the pitiable condition of the government-run schools in Sindh Province, arguing that there were 41,000 schools which had been deteriorating further because of mismanagement, corruption, and inefficiency on the part of the administration. Despite making huge educational expenditures, the government had not been able to raise educational standards and facilities

Hafiz Naeem was of the opinion that “the Jamaat-e-Islami is a political party which focuses more on implementation rather than making statements.” He went on to add that the Education Card scheme highlights the determination of the Jamaat-e-Islami party to increase the enrollment of students in educational institutions by relieving parents of the high costs associated with the inflationary economic situation prevailing in the country.

I“The Education Card scheme has already generated significant buzz in Karachi as parents struggle with rising education costs.”
