Pakistan Heatwave to Continue as PMD Predicts Isolated Thunderstorms

Share This Article:

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department of Pakistan issued their latest weather bulletin, which stated that a severe heat wave would prevail over most of the big cities in Pakistan during the next few days despite the intermittent rainfall and lightning showers prevailing in some selected areas. The forecast indicates that there would be prevailing hot and dry weather over most parts of Pakistan while severe weather would prevail over selected districts of Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The prediction about heat wave in Pakistan by PMD is at a time when the temperatures near the major urban areas remain considerably higher than the normal seasonal temperatures, causing greater danger to the health of the population due to heat sickness.

Hot Weather Prevails in Punjab Amidst Isolated Thunderstorms

In the current heatwave forecast in Pakistan by PMD, Punjab is suffering the maximum, as most of its districts will face the heat and dry weather for the whole period. According to the Met office, some areas are likely to face isolated rainfall and thunderstorms – Lahore, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, and nearby areas have been predicted a possibility of thunderstorms that will bring a brief relief from hot weather prevailing in the region.

This relief, nevertheless, is inconsistent and unreliable. Majority of the districts in Punjab will not receive any rain at all, forcing many people to cope with the Pakistan heat wave without any assistance from nature in an environment where temperatures are above the safety levels.

Night Time Cooler for Islamabad While Days Remain Scorching

The Pakistani capital is experiencing a two-part weather situation in context of the wider PMD heat wave situation. There will be an extremely hot day in and around Islamabad without much reprieve during the afternoon period. There are predictions of strong winds, storms, and rains coming at night, which means that there is reprieve from the heat only at night; otherwise, the heat continues during the long afternoon period.

And that sort of relief only available in the nighttime hours really frustrates people since they have to contend with dangerous heat levels during working hours.

Mixed Weather in KPK With South Remaining Harsh

The weather conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appear to be mixed in light of the Pakistan Heatwave forecast by PMD. Harsh weather is observed in the south, where heat conditions are likely to remain intense without any significant rains. Northern parts of the province provide a contrast to the situation as there are rain showers and thunderstorms predicted for Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Kohat, Peshawar, and Malakand divisions, which KPK’s elevated landscape facilitates.

Punjab and Sindh Are in Grip of Extreme Heatwaves

Among all the areas in Pakistan facing the heatwave issue, Sindh will be affected the most due to the weather that is supposed to occur in this area according to the Meteorological Department of Pakistan. The forecasted rainfall in the days to come is expected to be minimal, thus leading to very hot temperatures in the entire region. This happens since the combination of hot temperatures together with humidity leads to health issues.

Furthermore, Baluchistan is yet another province which is experiencing the same phenomenon due to the predictions made by the Met office regarding the dry and hot weather conditions without any possibility of rains.

Warning Messages due to the Rising Threat of Heat Waves

After the heat wave warning message issued by the PMD for Pakistan, important information follows that can help people maintain their health. It is important that one makes sure that he is not exposed to excessive heat from the sun and remains hydrated.
