125,000 Houses Rapidly Approaching Completion Under Punjab’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme

LAHORE: Almost 125,000 homes in Punjab are making fast progress towards their completion through the flagship program launched by the Punjab government as part of the Punjab Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project according to the provincial Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif during a meeting with Punjab Assemblymen Mian Shahid Hussain Khan and Muhammad Aoun Jahangir at CM Office on Monday.

This number is considered one of the biggest construction projects of the affordable housing scheme in the recent past in the Punjab province, taking the Punjab Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project from a mere announcement to a real-time construction process.

Discussion on Development Projects, Law and Order and Constituency Issues

The discussion between the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the two MPAs was quite comprehensive as it included different matters that needed immediate attention in Punjab at the moment:

  • Development of the Punjab Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project and other development schemes
  • Law and order scenario prevailing in the province
  • Constituency specific developmental concerns
  • Overall political situation in Punjab

The MPs showed regret about the death of children in the Kahna incident and prayed for the souls of those children who have passed away an incident which has gained wide media coverage and due to which the chief minister instructed preventive actions against the collapsing houses in Punjab.

MPAs Applaud Three Major Initiatives by the Government

Three particular initiatives taken by the government that have gained public approval through their representatives are being praised in the gathering, such as:

Third surplus budget for Punjab Province in a row which the representatives consider a financial success story under CM Maryam Nawaz’s administration.

Preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi Directed by CM

Through this meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the lawmakers about their future course of action, i.e., making thorough arrangements in their respective constituencies for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). The CM expressed her gratitude to both the MPAs for their faith in her.

The rural health centers upgradation was another key initiative raised by the chief minister, emphasizing the significance of providing quality health services right at the doors of people to cut their reliance on far-off urban hospitals.

The legislators appreciated the preparations made for the festival of Muharram by the government on the grounds of the effective security measures, cleanliness drives, and government-run Sabeels.

Havaldar Lalak Jan haheed Tribute

On the occasion of the martyrdom day of Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed, who was awarded the honor of Nishan-e-Haider for his bravery, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid him an impressive tribute for his heroic deed which is considered to be the greatest act of courage by any Pakistani soldier.

Punjab Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme in the Context of Punjab

In regard to the Punjab Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme number of houses nearing completion standing at 125,000, it reflects the true effort made by the Government of Punjab in response to its long-lasting affordable housing crisis, a crisis that has driven poor people in the direction of slums, Katchi abadis and rented houses.

With 125,000 housing units being built at the same time, the Punjab Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme is on an enormous scale that cannot be matched by any housing programme based on market economics.
