BYD Unveils Da Han Flagship Sedan With Jaw-Dropping 1,008 KM Range

SHENZHEN: BYD Dynasty NEV’s new general manager of sales, Lu Tian, has released a number of photos on Weibo on Monday, displaying the front, side, and rear looks of the new BYD Da Han flagship sedan. Lu commented that the sedan has a body size like that of the D-plus segment vehicles, together with a posture that gives it a flagship feel.
BYD Da Han Flagship Sedan Ahead of Chengdu Debut
The BYD Da Han flagship sedan is the name of the BYD’s latest sedan model, with the company having released the first official pictures of it. This BYD Da Han sedan is BYD’s most daring project ever, with the company intending that it will be located above the current Han sedan in the BYD Dynasty line of products.
As per previous statements by Lu, the debut of the flagship sedan, BYD Da Han, is scheduled to take place at the Chengdu Auto Show in August. The 29th Chengdu Motor Show is scheduled to be held from August 21 to August 30, in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and one of the top five A-class car shows in China. Last year's event featured around 120 car brands.
Based on recent information provided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China in their regulatory filings from the previous month, the BYD Da Han flagship sedan has a body length of 5,256 millimeters, body width of 1,999 millimeters, body height of 1,510 millimeters, and a wheelbase of 3,130 millimeters. The BYD Da Han flagship sedan is available in 3 variations: two BEVs and one PHEV.

While the single-motor BEV is driven by a permanent-magnet synchronous motor producing maximum power of 370 kilowatts, the maximum attainable speed for the vehicle is 240 kilometers per hour. With an additional 200-kilowatt front motor in the all-wheel-drive version, the maximum power output becomes 570 kilowatts, which is equivalent to 764 horsepower, and the maximum speed is increased to 270 kilometers per hour.
The Da Han BEV comes with a battery pack of up to 102.326 kWh, which is 725.9 kg in weight and has an energy density of 141 Wh/kg. The single motor models have CLTC ranges of 1,008 km and 970 km, while the four wheel drive models have CLTC ranges of 880 km, 850 km, and 820 km. The PHEV model combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which has a maximum power of 115 kW, with a drive motor of 200 kW and a 54.489 kWh battery pack with a range of 370 km.
However, the branding process of the BYD Da Han flagship sedan was itself a marketing campaign as well. Lu had earlier invited BYD’s user community to suggest names for the car, out of which "Da Han" emerged as a clear winner in a field of six, ensuring that there would be an instant following for the car even before it was unveiled.
The Da Han will become a duo of flagship cars for the Dynasty family, along with the Da Tang SUV, which targets the premium segment. The Da Tang, which is the first D-segment flagship SUV of the Dynasty family, was introduced on June 17 and is available for purchase at prices between 239,900 yuan ($35,330) and 309,900 yuan.
The Da Tang EV is equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery, which allows it to drive up to 950 kilometers on a single charge, as BYD says it is the longest-range full-size SUV in the world. The deliveries of the Da Tang started last month, with the 10,000th one being delivered last week. The announcement about the Da Han's unveiling at the Chengdu Auto Show came during the Da Tang delivery ceremony in Xinjiang.
