ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Talks between the US and Iran concluded without arriving at any consensus after 21 grueling sessions of discussions in Islamabad, according to the government officials on high positions.
The VP of the US, JD Vance, indicated that there is no deal since Iran refused to accept the terms offered by the US including the reduction of the number of nukes. Furthermore, according to the VP, the redlines of the US were extremely clear in the negotiations.
However, it became quite clear that differences existed between the two countries concerning a number of important issues, especially on the issues of nuclear program, sanctions, and security of the region. Among the most controversial issues was the Strait of Hormuz, whereby Iran demanded greater control over the strait, whereas the U.S. demanded free navigation worldwide.
Specialists state that the Islamabad Talks conclusion directly influence the status of the existing truce and could even trigger its breakdown if both sides do not address disagreements.

Iranian leaders show readiness for dialogue, though they set clear conditions. Both sides intend to share technical papers, which indicates ongoing engagement even though progress remains limited so far.
This is due to the fact that the negotiations in Islamabad are the first high-level talks between the two governments following the Islamic revolution in 1979.
