There are collaborations that exist solely to complete the marketing cycle. The TAG Heuer Gulf Racing Chronograph collaboration is not among those. It is much more than that; an association which has been forged over years of shared heritage in some of the most storied racing tracks around the world, cemented through some of the most legendary machines to have ever lapped them.
History of the TAG Heuer company can be traced back in the last five decades of the history of the motor sports. The chronographs, which were developed in order to measure the racing events, attained the same popularity as the racing events.
What about the Gulf Oil Colors? Light blue and orange colors decorated the cars like Porsche 917 and Ford GT40. This colour scheme will never be outdated.
The Fourth Gulf Edition, and the Boldest One Yet
Earlier releases in the TAG Heuer Gulf Racing chronograph family have been dominated by the Monaco, the watch that is directly linked to McQueen and the Le Mans movie. But now, TAG has chosen its Formula 1 Automatic Chronograph as the watch to feature as the latest edition, with this being the fourth in the Formula 1 series of Gulf watches.
The end result is a watch that does not shy away from what it is: a racing tool first and foremost, then a luxury item.
Here’s What You’re Really Getting on Your Wrist
The TAG Heuer Gulf Racing chronograph comes inside an angular, oversized, 44mm case made entirely out of sandblasted Grade 2 titanium. This is coupled up with an H-link bracelet in the same grade of titanium, ensuring that while you get a watch that looks tough, it is actually one.
Key design details that define this release:
- Forged carbon fibre tachymeter bezel — with “Gulf” lettered to the right of an orange TAG Heuer logo at 12:00
- Black DLC chronograph pushers — integrated into the right side of the case, flanking a prominent black crown ringed in orange lacquer
- Black dial base — with bold vertical light blue and orange racing stripes on the right side, directly recalling Gulf’s iconic Porsche 917 and Ford GT40 liveries
- Three colour-matched subdials — aligned vertically on the centre-left, featuring a mix of orange and light blue hands
- Bold orange centre chronograph seconds hand — impossible to miss mid-timing
- Light blue chapter ring — framing the applied indices, with the minute track carrying spillover from the racing stripes to visually expand the dial

Why the Dial Succeeds
A busy racing dial is one where components are fighting each other rather than working together. This watch company did not fall prey to this mistake because it ensured that all items on the dial, such as the stripes, the subdials, and even the hands, as well as the lettering on the bezel, all belong to the same color pattern of the Gulf dual color scheme, which consists of orange and light blue colors that complement each other.
The date window and the text on the dial are located within the stripes. Moreover, the blue ring around the dial and the spillage of the stripe that surrounds the minute track increase the perceived size of the dial, which in turn makes the watch look bigger. The overall size of the watch is 44mm.
The Unfading Livery
The TAG Heuer Gulf Racing chronograph gets its true strength from the livery. The livery of Gulf with light blue and orange paint was used on many famous cars that have raced through the ages. Unlike other aesthetics in the world of motorsport, which are associated with certain decades, the Gulf livery is timeless.
Because it just looks right on the racing watch. Because it looked right on a Porsche 917 at Le Mans. Because it looked right on McQueen’s wrist. And because it looks right once more, in 2026, on a 44mm Grade 2 titanium chronograph with a forged carbon bezel.
