KARACHI: The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, launched three landmark projects related to digitization in one day. Each of these innovations represents the most audacious attempt at an AI-based and technological revolution by any Provincial Government of Pakistan in one day. The Sindh Google Gemini AI initiative reached every part of the Sindh ecosystem at once, from cabinet officials in the Government to students in all of the public universities of Sindh.
Initiative One: Pakistan’s Cabinet Members Participate in An AI Classroom
It all started in CM House where Murad Ali Shah conducted an orientation and training program about Google Gemini AI initiative for the Cabinet members and other senior officials in the government – a unique occasion in the governance history of Pakistan’s provinces.
AI was defined by the Chief Minister as one of the revolutionary technological developments in modern times and highlighted certain spheres of governance which would see results from the implementation of Sindh Google Gemini AI project:
- Healthcare – evidence-based decision making and patient management
- Education – individualized learning and administration
- Agriculture – analytical prediction for crop cultivation and disaster preparedness
- Urban planning – construction and traffic management
- Law enforcement and finance – fraud detection and resource allocation
Murad Shah made his position clear on the distinction between technology and responsibility to humans. His view was that artificial intelligence should aid human judgment and never substitute for it, and that accountability and trust would always rest with the elected officials.

Initiative Two: 20,000 Google Career Certificate Scholarships for all Public Universities of Sindh
After cabinet training, the Chief Minister introduced the Google Career Certification Programme 2026, and its scope is amazing. In this program, 20,000 scholarships of Google Career Certificates will be provided to those students who are studying in all public universities of Sindh.
The function featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Science and Information Technology Department, the Sindh Higher Education Commission, and Tech Valley Pakistan – marking the institutional structure backing the commitment made.
Individuals who have obtained access to the Sindh Google Gemini AI scholarship scheme will undertake internationally recognised certificates for the following disciplines:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Cybersecurity
- Data Analytics
- Project Management
- UXD
- Digital Marketing
- E-Commerce
- IT Support

Initiative Three: Sindh’s and Pakistan’s First Google Gemini for Education Corner Launched at NED University
The day came to a close at NED University of Engineering and Technology, where the first Google Gemini for Education Corner of both Sindh and Pakistan was launched in a three-way partnership between NED University, Google, and Tech Valley Pakistan.
This will provide the students with daily interaction with Google’s Gemini technology, Chromebook laptops, and other cloud technologies, thereby bringing AI education out of the theoretical chalk-and-talk phase to practical use.
The VC of NED University of Engineering & Technology Prof Dr Muhammad Tufail, chairman of the HEC Prof Tariq Rafi, as well as the Google and Tech Valley Pakistan leaders, also participated in the event. Murad Shah congratulated NED University on taking the lead by making state-of-the-art artificial intelligence available to a public university – an example that the government wants to follow.
Implications for Sindh – And Pakistan
In July 1, there were three Google Gemini AI projects launched in Sindh which is much more than just another press release since it involves digital transformation at all three of these levels:
- Governance level – where ministers and ministers of state start learning how to utilize AI in decision making
- Education infrastructure – through Pakistan’s first ever Gemini learning lab at a publicly funded university
- Human capital development – 20,000 scholarships which ensure Google-certified graduates
Taken together, all these initiatives constitute the most ambitious use of AI technology on a single day in any Pakistani province yet witnessed – and make Sindh the gold standard for what other provinces aspire to achieve digitally.
