WASHINGTON DC: US President Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire with Iran that was due to expire shortly, with the objective of continuing the diplomatic talks and achieving a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the two nations.
Through his social media platform, Trump said that he had accepted a request in relation to negotiations that involved Pakistan. According to Trump, the U.S. would refrain from military actions intended for Iran in order to allow both sides to put together an agenda for negotiation.
This move seeks to avoid any further aggravation of an existing crisis that has resulted in the death of people amid a civil war in some regions of the Middle East area.
He made his choice based on how he saw the internal dynamics of Iran. He stated that the leadership within Iran became divided due to incidents that occurred during the war. He further stated that this was related to the previous attacks on Iran during the war.
The extension of the ceasefire takes place during a period marked by rising tensions, not just in the context of regional matters, but worldwide too. Any disruptions to the delivery of oil and gas shipments in the Strait of Hormuz, which is an integral part of global shipping routes, is a matter of concern.
