PESHAWAR: A total of nine Additional and Assistant Advocate Generals have quit their posts at the office of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General citing some internal disputes that had escalated so much that senior law officials could not work further in the same office.

The dispute between KP law officers Advocate General tensions development includes severe allegations of making financial demands against some provincial office bearers of the Insaaf Lawyers Forum, which is the legal organization affiliated with PTI. Those who have quit their posts include Additional Advocate General Inam Yousafzai and Assistant Advocate General Muhammad Naeem.

What the KP law officers resign Sought To Say

Tone of resignation letters were written in an extremely cautious manner. The officials claimed absolute trust in the political leaders of the province, and said that their two-year tenure under the PTI government was something that they felt proud of an attempt to place the blame away from the top leadership of the party on the ILF officials.

It is worth noting that despite expressing confidence in the political leadership, the nine law officers declared that they couldn't continue to serve in their capacity any longer.

Lawyers of KP Law Officers Resign Advocate General case revolves around certain financial claims raised by Inam Yousafzai, which he raised after making his resignation. As per him:

Some of the office-bearers of the Insaaf Lawyers Forum had been asking for monthly payments from the law officers working in the office of the Advocate General.

Upon his request for information on the money paid by him and the purpose behind it, Yousafzai had to face backlash and pressure to resign.

KP Legal Staff Resignations and Advocate General Disputes Public Statement by Inam Yousafzai was sure to distinguish his criticisms from an insinuation that he harbors any sort of disloyalty to the founding father of PTI:

"I am a loyal soldier of PTI’s founding father, Mr. Imran Khan, and have the full backing of PTI’s top leaders."

This characterization – that he distinguishes himself from any accusations directed at the leadership of PTI in its province from a dispute with the ILF President of that province – highlights the intricacies of the political landscape inside of PTI.

There are other issues that relate to the KP law officers resigning over the Advocate General’s tensions issue apart from those that affect the internal issues of the legal department within PTI. The context of these resignations raises some queries about the governance structure of KP’s law officers.

In the wake of the resignations from the KP law officers, there are two separate courses of action that have to be undertaken by the Chief Minister’s office: firstly, the functional deficiency that results from the nine resignations, and secondly, the investigation of the financial allegations that have brought about the resignations.

The way in which the provincial administration handles the allegation of payment demands or views the resignations as an administrative issue will show how seriously KP's administration intends to deal with the issue of governance.
