LAHORE: In fiscal year 2025-26, the Punjab Revenue Authority generated tax revenue in excess of Rs367 billion, which constitutes the highest amount ever recorded in the history of the organization. The record tax revenue of Punjab Revenue Authority outstrips the tax collection of last year, which was Rs270 billion, by Rs97 billion, growing by 36% year-over-year.

The chairman of the Punjab Revenue Authority, Moazzam Iqbal Supra, endorsed the accomplishment and stated that it was an exemplary performance which showed institutional capacity building and compliance.

Rs48 Billions Collected in June Only

The last month of the financial year holds special significance in the taxation performance of Punjab Revenue Authority. Punjab Revenue Authority managed to collect over Rs48 billions in just the month of June 2026, which was the highest ever collection by the authority in any single month of its history.

“This is the highest tax collection since the establishment of the institution.”
Moazzam Iqbal Supra, Chairman, Punjab Revenue Authority

This number in June is indicative of the fact that the end-of-year performance was not just a gradual tailing off but actually an acceleration, which shows the improved enforcement, taxpayer registration, and compliance systems.

It is evident from the PRA tax collecting record of Rs367 billion that PRA falls into the category of fastest growing provincial revenue organizations in Pakistan due to an impressive annual growth rate of 36 percent that surpasses even the rate of economic and inflation growth.

What Drove the Record Performance?

The Rs97 billion increase in Punjab Revenue Authority tax collection record reflects several converging factors that have strengthened PRA’s revenue mobilisation capacity over recent years:

  • Digital enforcement systems: automated audit trails and e-invoicing have reduced under-reporting and evasion across service sectors
  • Expanded tax net: registration of previously untaxed service providers has broadened the base from which PRA draws collections
  • Improved compliance culture: sustained enforcement action has shifted behaviour among taxpayers across Punjab’s major cities
  • Economic activity growth: higher nominal transaction volumes in services, real estate, and retail have generated larger taxable bases

The PRA predominantly collects taxes on services under Punjab’s jurisdiction — a sector that has expanded significantly as Punjab’s urban economy has grown and formalised in recent years.

FY27 Target: Rs528 Billion – An Increase of 44%

The Punjab government has targeted the Punjab Revenue Authority to collect Rs528 billion in tax revenues during fiscal year 2026-27, which is an increase of around 44%.

It will take the PRA adding Rs161 billion per annum through extra revenues – a feat that will be tougher than the Rs97 billion it has collected through its best-ever fiscal year performance in FY26. It is a record for the revenue administration of Punjab that is both an achievement and a starting point for even greater challenges ahead.
