ISLAMABAD: For the first time since its lagging 5G rollout in Pakistan, Ufone is now moving forward to activate its Ufone 5G in Islamabad. It is a crucial catch-up move by Ufone as the company has been witnessing their rivals setting up 5G network in Islamabad despite its absence.
The Ufone 5G coverage map for Islamabad has been discovered to be available in multiple places across the city, according to the preliminary testing done by ProPakistani. Although more active sites than those identified through testing could possibly be out there, the sites confirmed will give a rough idea about where the network is available at present.
Coverage Verified in Important Urban Areas
The testing done shows that the Ufone 5G service is available at important places in Islamabad. The coverage was found at F-10/3, close to the traffic signal on Margalla Road, as well as other locations on Jinnah Avenue near New Blue Area and locations around G-9/2 & G-9/3 near Centaurus.
Other verified regions are the Islamabad Expressway in proximity to G-8, the region near Faizabad in which the Islamabad Expressway intersects with Murree Road, and the region surrounding Serena Hotel. These regions are spread across both commercial centers and transportation routes, indicating that Ufone has focused on dense traffic zones during the initial launch stage.
Future Sites Can Be Expected
Because testing was not conducted on a large scale, there is no doubt that Ufone 5G Islamabad network coverage goes beyond what has been found out so far. It is expected that the company will keep on extending its coverage in the capital city in the coming months.

Mobile Tests Reveal Download Speeds Above 300Mbps
Tests carried out while moving within the service area indicated an average download speed above 300Mbps for the 5G services provided by Ufone. It should be mentioned that such tests usually give results that are lower in comparison with static testing because they are performed on the move, therefore, the speeds in a static state will be higher.
Slower Upload Speeds Than Download Speeds
When it came to upload speeds, they presented a totally different picture. During our tests, the upload speeds would almost always remain below 20Mbps within the coverage areas, showing quite a large disparity from the download speeds. Such disparities between the two speeds are actually quite usual during the early stages of deployment of 5G because networks tend to favour download speeds during this period.
What’s Coming Next for the 5G Plans of Ufone?
The arrival of Ufone 5G Islamabad is crucial for Ufone to fulfill its objective of catching up with rivals in the race for 5G technology in Pakistan. In view of the expansion of its coverage area in the coming months, the residents of Islamabad who do not yet enjoy the benefits of the technology might not have to wait much longer.
Meanwhile, users who have experienced Ufone 5G coverage outside the places where this coverage is confirmed are requested to provide any information they can as it would contribute to a better understanding of the extent of the network.
