Zong Partners With PAA to Enhance 5G Services at Karachi Airport

Share This Article:

KARACHI: Zong and Pakistan Airports Authority together strive to provide immediate coverage of 5G, SIM card activation, and live customer care services at Jinnah International Airport. The expansion is expected to soon take place at Peshawar and Multan airports too.

Foreign visitors arriving in Karachi through Jinnah International Airport need not face the issue of connectivity once they land at the destination airport. In association with the PAA, Zong has set up a unique 5G Customer Service Counter at Karachi Airport. Right after they land at Karachi Airport, foreign visitors from within and outside Pakistan can get their SIM cards activated.

Unique airport offering currently available at three cities

The roll-out of the Zong 5G Karachi Airport solution represents the third implementation of an airport solution that Zong refers to as an industry-first model in Pakistan. Zong had already rolled out this same solution structure in international airports of Islamabad and Lahore, creating a blueprint that is now followed in Pakistan’s busiest international airport. The replication of the model in these three cities demonstrates how important Zong considers airport solutions to be for their strategic infrastructure projects.

Expansion strategy Peshawar & Multan to follow

Not limited to the current three locations, Zong is considering installing their kiosks at Peshawar and Multan airports as well. This means that Zong’s 5G airport facilitation strategy would expand to reach another two regional airports of Pakistan. Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Multan airports would represent the five airports through which most passenger flow of Pakistan would pass.

Digital passenger experience: PAA & Zong come together to work on the same wavelength

Mr. Muhammad Zulqarnain, Officer Incharge Commercial PAA Karachi, was quoted saying that the key goal for the airport authority is to improve passenger facilitation through advanced technology and services. The collaboration between Zong and Karachi airport serves precisely this purpose as it puts telecom facilities right in front of the passengers’ noses.

AI-powered connectivity The next frontier

Moving beyond today’s travel facilitation desk approach, Zong’s wider technology vision features AI-powered initiatives designed to provide more intelligent travel experiences. As explained by Anas Matloob, Deputy Regional General Manager, Karachi acts as an important gateway not only for local but also international travelers who need connectivity to be seamlessly available as a vital element of their trip – hence, viewing the Zong 5G Karachi Airport desk as an entryway into intelligent connectivity solutions.

What does this mean for the digital infrastructure in Pakistan?

It is safe to say that the introduction of Zong 5G in Karachi airport is a tiny step towards Pakistan’s grand vision of digital revolution. Airport infrastructure, especially international airports that act as the entry point for people from abroad, determines what foreigners see as the country’s digital capacity right from the start. Having a 5G-enabled international airport in Karachi means having an airport that allows its users to experience connectivity right from the beginning of their journey into Pakistan.
