PAF Jets Deployed to Saudi Arabia Airbase Under Defence Pact

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan and Saudi Arabia defence pact initiative is in its latest phase since the arrival of PAF jets in Saudi Arabia, sources told the media on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry said Pakistan Air Force (PAF) equipment arrived at King Abdulaziz Air Base in the Eastern Province under improved security coordination plans.

Officials said the deployment aims to enhance interoperability between military personnel and improve joint operational planning under the existing defence cooperation agreement.

This move is one in a series of attempts by both countries to develop stronger relations in terms of military coordination in matters of improved response, communications and joint training operations.

Military officials noted that the latest defence pact shows that defence cooperation has moved beyond training and advisory roles toward active operational coordination.

According to the officials, the move represents increased alignment in strategies adopted by the two countries since military cooperation has now taken an operational form.

This move has come at a time when security issues in the region have become a matter of concern for both parties.
