Trump’s 80th Birthday Celebration Leaves Washington Stunned

Share This Article:

WASHINGTON, D.C: On Sunday, Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday. Like most men who have reached that age, he would choose to do it quietly with just family members and some cake. No, not Trump. He went for the cage fight in the White House grounds that was connected to the celebrations of America’s 250th year.

The Trump 80th Birthday Celebration UFC at the White House, which goes by the name of UFC Freedom 250, is an entirely new phenomenon for the history of the United States presidency. Fourteen mixed martial arts fighters will participate in a ring named The Claw, located in the South Lawn, beating each other up in front of over 4,000 people, while others watch on big screens on the National Mall.

Scale of UFC Freedom 250

The figures speak for themselves. UFC Freedom 250 costs $60 million dollars to stage. The space outside the Lincoln Memorial was used to conduct the official weigh-ins of the fighters. The National Mall can accommodate some 125,000 viewers on outdoor screens. Additional attractions include a military fly-over, parachutists, military band music during intervals, history vignettes, and fireworks lasting ten minutes.

The Trump 80th birthday UFC White House fight has taken up most of downtown Washington. The movement of fighters, security barriers, cameras, and spectators has turned Washington’s most famous streets into a cross between an athletic venue and a national holiday celebration.

Boxers Exit the Oval Office

It is hard to imagine the following event taking place unless it were orchestrated by President Donald Trump, who never fails to include an element of theater in his life. The news reports that several of the boxers will exit the Oval Office and then walk out onto the South Lawn for their bout.

The picture of the bare-knuckle fighters filing out from the chamber in which international diplomacy, treaties are signed, and history is made speaks to one of the key themes of the Trump 80th birthday UFC White House showdown, namely the intentional clash between weighty institution and mass entertainment.

Michael Chandler, one of the fighters who participated in the event, described it as “the biggest fight event ever in the history of combat sports.” Ciryl Gane, a fighter of French origin, did not let himself get distracted by anything but the actual sport aspect of the event.

The Critics Get in a Few Hits of Their Own

It doesn’t look like everyone’s happy about it, though. The Trump 80th birthday UFC White House bash is under heavy attack by critics who see the staging of such a violent event at such an iconic site in America as a step too far, especially considering the war the country is currently fighting with Iran.

The legal action taken by two citizens from Washington aimed at stopping the event because of accusations of corruption. However, the motion was denied by a federal judge on Friday, thereby paving the way for the matches to go on. The failure of the attempt to legally stop the event didn’t end the criticism of the matches; however, no more obstacles could prevent the event from occurring.

Trump thinks that being president is like the entertainment business. It’s all about putting on the show.” These words were said by Peter Loge, head of School of Media at George Washington University. Of course, these words were not intended to be flattering.

Iran, Peace, and Presidential Timing

Underneath all of this, Sunday was also a politically significant day. News reports were circulating about Trump’s possible intention to mark his birthday by unveiling an eagerly anticipated peace deal with Iran, which would make this particular birthday party something much more.

The problem with this plan, however, was that Tehran seemed skeptical about it. According to the Iranian government, nothing had been finalized regarding an announcement of any sort on this day.

In case the peace agreement does come about amid the Trump 80th birthday UFC White House festivities, the contrast will be remarkable – cage fights and diplomatic talks appearing side-by-side on Sunday. In case it doesn’t happen, the continuing war with Iran, as well as its financial effects on U.S. citizens, will become the ugly background against which the party will take place.

The One Health Question Nobody Can Ignore

As one approaches 80 years of age in the limelight, there is no hiding from scrutiny. Trump had spared no effort to appear physically fit and strong in comparison to his Democrat rival, Joe Biden, who had finally succumbed to health issues that ended his political career.

However, Trump has not escaped the same queries. News stories suggesting hand bruises, veins problems in his legs, and evident tiredness during his interactions are just some examples of the problems facing his health, according to his personal physician.

The president himself marked the achievement with an unusual display of honesty. Speaking in a video recorded by one of his aides, he said he was “not really happy about that birthday” he was having, and added “that 80 is not really a number I like.” It was a short statement but coming from someone who based his persona on being invincible, it meant something more than usual.
