The most sought after ultra-luxury model from China is soon to hit the European dealerships following an impressive debut in its native land. The massive new Zeekr 9X luxury SUV is finally on sale in mainland Europe equipped with a high-performing range extender hybrid engine along with some amazing technology features which only a Range Rover can dare dream of. Soon enough, this car will be in showrooms near you in the UK.

Zeekr is an upmarket and high-performance brand within the Geely Group, along with brands like Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus. Although the Zeekr 9X upmarket SUV is unabashedly China-centric in terms of market positioning, every vehicle produced by Zeekr is designed with a decidedly European flair in Gothenburg, Sweden, under the direction of Stefan Sielaff, who once helmed design at Bentley.

There is no doubt that the Zeekr 9X luxurious SUV is designed in an attempt to mimic other cars such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Bentley Bentayga. Its size is similar to the mentioned cars, being only slightly longer than five and a half metres. Nevertheless, the engineering of this car is significantly different.

The entire lineup of the Zeekr 9X is fitted with a premium range extender hybrid system based on an advanced 900V electrical platform. This system consists of two electric motors with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. In practice, the petrol engine is used primarily as a generator for the two e-motors, as opposed to being used to drive the wheels directly. This type of system is completely different from the hybrid technology usually found in luxury European sport utility vehicles.

The pure electric range of the luxury SUV Zeekr 9X with a 55kWh battery is 110 miles as per the WLTP cycle. This is possible due to the 900V electric system that charges the battery from 10% to 80% in only nine minutes on a DC fast charger rated up to 330kW. In case the battery gets drained and there is no source to charge it, the gasoline engine will turn on to ensure that the vehicle continues running.

The European test cycle, for measuring the efficiency of the vehicle with an empty battery, gives a carbon dioxide emissions rating of 77 g/km and an efficiency of 29 mpg. Notwithstanding the efficient figures, this power system also has high performances; the Zeekr 9X high-performance SUV generates 884 bhp and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds with a hefty weight of 2,900

Zeekr 9X luxury SUV: An Interior Built to Impress

The most impressive element about the Zeekr 9X luxury SUV may arguably be the car's interior that, according to the brand itself, combines advanced technology with the high-end materials and construction used. The dashboard is primarily defined by the 13-inch driver's screen along with a dual 16-inch screen.

Other than that, the interior of the car stands out in a unique way by providing a three-row seating for up to six people with two captain’s chairs in the middle row. In this configuration, passengers can experience a state-of-the-art sound system featuring 32 speakers from the brand called Naim, which cars have as an optional feature available only in the five-digit price range Bentleys.

These are just some of the many characteristics that are offered in the Zeekr 9X luxury SUV, but despite its prices in Europe still being unclear at this point, it’s anticipated that the model will compete against many of its seven-seat SUV competitors in terms of value for money. Such positioning will mean that the Zeekr sits above many luxury three-row options like the BMW X7 and Audi Q9.

Nevertheless, Zeekr's UK launch is still scheduled to occur sometime during late 2026, although it should be noted that the 9X will not be included in the initial product range. At the same time, its launch seems inevitable, as stated by Zeekr: "The UK is an important market in our strategy to grow in Europe. We make models which are based on consumer demands in each country. Thus, we believe that the 9X will be among them, but the time frame is unknown yet."
