WhatsApp Is Getting a Huge New Look — Here’s What’s Changing

WhatsApp Liquid Glass design has leaked, revealing a stunning new interface that could completely change how users experience messaging.

KARACHI: Forget the flat, static interfaces of yesteryear. t is safe to say that WhatsApp is now perfecting its huge visual refresh, which will take your daily messaging experience to a whole other level of luxury. The new interface concept will be designed based on a clean aesthetic of Liquid Glass seen on Apple’s smartphones.

News regarding the visual update surfaced due to beta leaks back in late 2025. At the time, the modifications were thought to be only about adjustments in spacing and icons. Now, however, recent leaks made by WABetaInfo suggest that there is more to this story than meets the eye.

The Magic of the Floating Chat Bar

The centerpiece of this update is the new floating chat bar. For the current iteration, your texting space would be located down at the bottom part of your screen. The “Liquid Glass” iteration of the chat app breaks out this bar by making it a pill-shaped transparent glass bar that floats over your wallpaper.

As you scroll through your conversation history, your message bubbles scroll beneath the clear glass layer. You can actually see the colored bubbles scroll through as if through a glass, which adds a lot of texture to the interface design.

Transparency Plus Functionality

Transparency extends beyond the chat box. The newest test by WhatsApp involves adding an equally transparent navigation layer on top of the chat interface. Merging the design components within the background image, the application encourages your eye to focus on what is really important your messages. The interface is also smart enough to change its color theme according to your wallpaper settings, for example, if you use yellow wallpaper, the glass components will have a golden tint.

When Will This Happen?

Despite the increasing talk about all this, you shouldn’t expect to see the changes on your phone any time tomorrow. WhatsApp is going at it at its usual slow pace. A few of the users of the iOS 26 beta version have seen some elements of the new code, but WhatsApp is currently still testing the entire Liquid Glass feature internally.

This guarantees that older devices will work optimally without draining the battery. From experience, iPhone users are likely the first to see the results of this new feature, but WhatsApp typically ensures that all features are equal across both platforms.

Why The Redesign Matters Now

When it comes to the messaging war in 2026, it’s not only about having more features. Today, the race is for providing the best User Experience (UX). When rivals go for ultra-realistic visuals, WhatsApp’s shift towards “Liquid Glass” makes sure that it stays one of the golden standards of messaging in the world.

With proper execution, the change in the design would offer a sense of freshness while preserving simplicity, which billions of people worldwide use daily. Your chats are finally growing up, and they’ve never looked clearer.
